On Oct. 17, the 2024 World Intelligent Connected Vehicles Conference, co-sponsored by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), the Ministry of Transport and the Beijing Municipal People's Government, commenced in Beijing. Converged over 250 renowned OEMs, critical parts enterprises and institutions from around the world, the event unveiled more than 200 new technologies and products. Yin Li, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Secretary of Beijing Municipal CPC Committee; Wan Gang, President of China Association for Science and Technology; Jin Zhuanglong, Secretary of the Leading Party Members Group and Minister of MIIT; Liu Wei, Secretary of the Leading Party Members Group and Minister of Transport and other leaders attended and addressed the conference. Zeng Qinghong, chairman of GAC, was invited to deliver a speech on the theme of "Embracing the new era of intelligent driving Co-building a new industrial ecosystem".
Zeng Qinghong delivered an adress
The advent of intelligent driving has driven the rapid transformation of the automotive industry, as highlighted by Zeng Qinghong. With the rapid development of emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, big data, and cloud computing, intelligent driving has emerged as a new direction for technological and industrial transformation in the automotive sector.
GAC Group was among the first batch of enterprises for L3 autonomous driving pilot in China
The Conference released “Top ten industrial breakthroughs in intelligent connected vehicles”, with special mention on “The breakthrough of automotive AI technology based on big data” , “Integration of intelligence and connectivity”. Zeng Qinghong also introduced GAC’s contribution and achievements in this field.
Zeng Qionghong stated that GAC was determined to pioneer intelligent driving and develop core competencies in intelligent connectivity. Invested more than 50 billion RMB on independent research and development, GAC has established a “3+2+4” R&D system for intelligent connectivity.
In terms of key technologies of intelligent connectivity, the X-SOUL EE architecture has taken the lead in mass production in the industry. The ADiGO smart cockpit has created a third living space that combines "frequent update" and "tailored to accommodate diverse preferences”. ADiGO intelligent driving system enabled advanced levels of autonomous driving from L2 to L4.

In addition, GAC focused on cost-effective and highly reliable safety solutions. Following the launch of HYPTEC GT and HT, AION's first global strategic model, the second-generation AION V, was launched in July. This vehicle allowed drivers to "drive wherever there is a road, and navigate globally without relying on map ". The AION RT to be launched in November will be equipped with urban NDA intelligent driving from the version at a price level of 150,000 RMB, which breaks the traditional cognition of "advanced intelligent driving means high price". GAC Motor is also fully embracing intelligent driving and plans to equip its 3 flagship models to be launched in 2025 with the new generation of Huawei HarmonyOS smart cockpit and Huawei Qiankun ADS3.0 for intelligent driving, enabling more customers to fulfill their "intelligent driving dream".
AION V debuted in Paris Motor Show 2024
Zeng Qinghong emphasized the collaboration between upstream and downstream in the era of intelligent driving. GAC steadily promoted a cross-border integration strategy to co-build industrial ecosystem.
Finally, Zeng Qinghong proposed two recommendations based on co-building industrial ecosystem and thinking of the development of China’s intelligent connected vehicles:
Firstly, it is recommended to strengthen the joint research and efforts on independent development of chips and common technologies.
Secondly, it is suggested to accelerate the enhancement of laws and regulations on commercial operation of autonomous driving vehicles.
GAC will work with industrial peers to jointly build an industrial ecosystem and achieve win-win cooperation, thus to continuously create value for a more enjoyable mobile life for human beings and contribute to the country’s goal of becoming an automotive powerhouse.
